Being someone who has personally struggled with body dysmorphia, bulimia, and weight in general (due to being forced to take 13 pills when I was in facilities as a teen), these Instagram VS. reality videos have helped me see what is seen on the internet isn’t always real nor attainable.
I was able to unwind the toxic views I had about myself and stop looking at these “influencers” as if they had it all figured out. They didn’t. They just had a way to cover up human flaws.
If you are someone who is constantly comparing how you look to these seemingly flawless people, take the time to watch videos like these to help detox the mind. It truly does help. We are human. We have bumps, budges, stomachs, etc… embrace being human, don’t hide it.
No need to send hate or shame to these influencers, they too have insecurities, or they wouldn’t feel the need to do this.
If you see a young person trying to be like who they see on the internet try to show them videos like this, so they don’t get sucked into believing these lies. Social media can really warp the mind, especially the younger generation. Teenage years are confusing enough without media lies.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to watch and read this post.
